WWII Korea Grouping to a U.S.Navy Pilot
This grouping has been “Lost” by Royal Mail on route to the son of Harry Maier in the USA. I would be happy to receive any information as to it’s current location.. I will buy this group back at the reward of £250.00

Here is a full uniform group attributed to Lt.Commander Harry Maier. We have to following items in this group:-
1. Fully badged tunic with pin back WWII Navy Pilot wings by Balfour1/20th gold filled with safety catch.
Four medal ribbon bars for WWII and Korea and LT Commander shoulder boards. By San Diego taylor in a size 40/42". Note two moth nips to the back of the collar.
2. Issue Shirt with small rank on the collars clutch back fitting and black issue tie.
3. Trousers in a size 32" waist some moth nips to the lower left leg.
4. Officer's overseas Garrison cap, badged with USN Navy Officer insignia in good condition.
5. Navy Issue wool sweater.
6. Comes with reference history, copy of eight photos and a copy of his DFC citation.
Naval Aviator Harry Maier served in WWII and the Korean wars.During this time he flew from serveral carriers and flew Hellcats, Bearcats and Corsairs. Harry joined the navy in October 1941 as a Pharmacist mate. In 1943 he was selected for the Enlisted Pilot Flight training program. In October 1944 he received his Navy Wings and was commissioned and posted to Fighter Squadron 153. He first carrier duty was at the end of WWII aborad the carrier USS Kearsage. he was released from dutyin 1947 and went into the reserves with VF-874 and was recalled for the Korean War where he flew F4U Corsair in Air Group102. He flew from two carriers the USS Bon Homme Richard and the USS Oriskany. Harry was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for an action to rescue a downed pilot in Korea.. He retired in 1965 as a Lt. Commander after 22 years.
