Rare USAAF hand made patch in bullion thread and in near mint condition.

Worn by 9th Air Force personnel attached to the Free French Air Force in the support of ground operations and flying missions.

During Operation Dragoon, the invasion of Southern France in August 1944, two Ninth fighter groups were transferred to the provisional United States/Free French 1st Tactical Air Force supporting the invasion force's drive north.
