WWII USAAF Named A-2 Jacket and Service Uniform

Here we have a named US Army Air Corps Grouping to a 35 mission Pilot, flying B-17 “Flak Sack” Serial 44-8528 out of Sudbury, Suffolk with the 486th Bomb Group in 834th Squadron.

The group consists of the following:-
1. A-2 Leather Flight Jacket in good overall condition by Roughwear Clothing Co. Ina size 40. Some age and service wear, liner has wear at the collar, shoulders and lower right side. Name tag stamped J E Newson. Talon Zip in working order. Cuffs and waistband light wear only.
2. Officers four pocket service jacket, named and fully badged with pin back Captain rank insignia in sterling. US clutch back fittings and Aviation branch insignia to the collars with early “Phinney” clutch back fittings. Pilot wings above the left pocket in sterling silver by A.E. Co Utica NY. with sterling silver clutch back fittings. Over an English made pin back ribbon bar Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters and an ETO with three campaign stars. English made pin back Presidential Unit citation with one oak leaf cluster. On the left sleeve is an English made High wing 8th Air Force patch. Tunic is labelled named and dated 1943. Overall the tunic condition very good with light wear and no moth or damage.
3. Officers soft peak “Crusher” service cap in good condition, light service wear, EZ cushion by Superior Cap Co, Chicago.
4. Various booklets including visits to Bristol, Coventry and Edinburgh. including visits to the `bristol Hippadrome and the famous Bristol pub The Llandovery Trow. American Red Cross Service Club Glasgow accomadation and recreation. A London Philharmonic programme. A Calling card James E Newson.
4. 26 Photos mainly training and one pining rank to a friend in Sudbury.
