Here we have a 35 mission Aerial Ball Gunner who served with the 457th Bomb Group 748th Squadron flying B17’s out of Glatton. Sgt James G Grantham with 269 hours of combat time awarded six Air Medals and a Purple Heart.

The grouping consists of the following:-
1. Boxed Air Medal.
2. Boxed Purple Heart
3. ETO Medal in issue box.
4. Air Gunners wing pin back with safety catch.
5. Dog Tag early issue with an address.
6. 8th Air Force, Air Corps patches and enlisted collars. Thre piece medal ribbon bar. Honourable discharge button badge.snd Staff Sargeant rank.
7. Paperwork includes original mission list detailing 35 missions together with copies of Air Medal and Purple Heart awards, Discharge Separation record.
8. Painted leather 457th Bomb Group and a leather Squadron tail “U”
9. 13 original photos of aircraft and around the base with friends.
10.Piece of Flack which may have been the wound for the Purple Heart.
11. 32 Photos of a visit to England and photos of the Memphis Bell at an air show in the USA in 1991, these feature the Ball Turret.
